A practical minibus awareness course delivered by our Advanced Driving Instructors

The way MiDAS training is delivered changed from January 2024. The CTA who administer the scheme have created a new online system so the theory element can be completed online before the practical element can be given. This change means that your members of staff receiving practical driver training will have more time with our advanced instructors on the day.

From January 2024, all those wishing to complete MiDAS will be given a 'Leaners Pass' so they can access the online theory course and certificate once passed. Once the practical skills and driving assessment has been completed and passed the 'learner' can then evaluate their training and download a certificate.

Our team are happy to talk you through all the changes and answer any questions you may have.

Who needs MiDAS Training?

Anyone driving a minibus should complete some form of regular practical driver training. Driving a minibus is very different from driving a car, yet many minibus drivers have never had any professional driver training because they have inherited D1 entitlement.

MiDAS is a way to give all drivers some professional guidance when it comes to driving such a large vehicle, as well as brush up on their theory. It is recommended that drivers complete the MiDAS training every four years to refresh their knowledge and enhance their skills.

Reducing accidents and incidents with MiDAS Training

Reducing accidents and incidents with MiDAS Training

In over 20 years of working with schools and organisations driving minibuses we have seen that the most common minibus bumps and scrapes are caused by drivers not being aware of the size of the vehicle.

Dented roofs, missing wing mirrors and rear passenger-side scrapes are the most common types of damage we see and all could be avoided with some additional training on manoeuvring these larger vehicles.

Including clever hacks to help drivers remember the size of their vehicle Rivervale only use advanced driving instructors for MiDAS so you get safer drivers who know how to avoid these issues.

Want your drivers to have D1 entitlement?

With D1 entitlement, your drivers can be paid to drive (up to 16 passengers) and there are no vehicle weight restrictions. Rivervale has worked with over 2000 schools, and has proven success in helping drivers pass first time

Looking to risk-assess your drivers regularly?

Rivervale use the same online platform as many large UK brands, such as Argos and Royal Mail, to risk-assess their drivers and provide additional training online. It's efficient, affordable and accurate.

Confused about who needs driver training and why?

Our online Minibus Management Course is designed for anyone involved in managing or driving a minibus under a Section 19 Permit, and explains all the requirements including driver training and licences.
