The Beginning

Tommy Sopwith and Peter Rigden acquire Hartley and Midgely, a Ford Car garage on Preston Road, and Tommy also acquires a site on the Kingsway Hove that became Endeavour Kingsway Hove.

Shoreham

Endeavour Motor Company acquire a garage in Shoreham-by-Sea that became Endeavour Ford of Shoreham.

Beaconsfield Road

Endeavour open a site on Beaconsfield Road for commercial vehicles.

Endeavour Motor Company Brighton

The Preston Road site was redeveloped and became Endeavour Motor Company Brighton. It traded as a main Ford dealership and was the UK's first ever 24/7 repair facility.

Saltdean

Endeavour open a workshop in Saltdean specifically for the preparation of top quality cars.

Rally Sports (RS)

Endeavour Motor Company become one of the few UK Ford dealers to be appointed as a Rally Sports dealer.

Redhill

Endeavour Motor Company Redhill was formed. By this time the company had facilities in Preston Road, Old Steine and Ditching Road Brighton, Newhaven, Saltdean, Shoreham-by-Sea and Redhill.

Rivervale Pangbourne

Tommy Sopwith acquires a Mercedes-Benz / Lancia car dealership business in Pangbourne. It became a Mercedes-Benz car dealership named Rivervale of Pangbourne. 'Rivervale' was chosen because of the site being in the valley of the Thames.

Rivervale Brighton

Tommy Sopwith forms Rivervale of Brighton by acquiring a Mercedes-Benz and Dastsun garage on Victoria Road, Portslade, at the time called Prestwich Garage. Endeavour kept their head office in Preston Road, Brighton.

Rivervale Reading

Porsche move out of a site in Richfield Avenue Reading and Endeavour acquire the site, in preparation to redevelop and relocation Rivervale of Pangbourne to become Rivervale of Reading.

Rivervale Hove

A new state of the art and purpose built Porsche dealership, Rivervale of Hove, opens in Victoria Road, Portslade.

Rivervale Reading

Rivervale of Reading sold to Appleyard.

Sytner

Sytner acquires the Porsche franchise.

Vince Pemberton

Vince Pemberton leaves Rivervale Mercedes to run Eagle Oak Vehicle Contracts with his dad - a leasing brokerage in Worthing, West Sussex.

Rivervale Cars

Rivervale Cars is formed, Sytner moves Porsche to Burgess Hill/Mid Sussex.

Mazda

Rivervale Cars Mazda starts trading.

Eagle Oak

Eagle Oak Vehicles is acquired by Rivervale.

Rebranding

Eagle Oak Contract Hire & Leasing and Used Vehicles rebrand to Rivervale Contract Hire & Leasing and Used Vehicles under Rivervale Cars umbrella.

Rivervale House

Planning permission granted for Rivervale House.

Open

Rivervale House opens, and Rivervale Servicing & MOT was created.

Minibus

Rivervale Minibus was created.

Fleet

The Rivervale Fleet department was established.

Maxus

Maxus UK & Ireland announced the addition of Rivervale to its network. The Rivervale Maxus Centre was established.

RPM

Rivervale Used Vehicles rebrands to Rivervale Performance Motorcentre (RPM).

Management Buyout

Rivervale Cars Ltd complete a management buyout from Endeavour and appoint a new Board of Directors.

OSV & Castle Minibus

Rivervale acquire Castle Minibus, followed by Worthing based leasing brokers OSV.

Rebrand

Rivervale update their brand identity across all departments.
