The new system, known as ‘LEAP MODE’, enables the C10 to rise momentarily as it approaches speed bumps or potholes, allowing the vehicle to glide over obstacles with ease. The feature works automatically at speeds below 20mph, helping to reduce the impact of common road hazards on both the vehicle and its occupants.
Powered by Leapmotor’s advanced Cell-to-Chassis electric architecture, ‘LEAP MODE’ utilises the magnetic properties of the rear-mounted motor to create a brief lifting effect. This allows the vehicle to elevate by up to 20cm for a short duration, before settling smoothly back onto the road.
Drivers can activate the feature via the central touchscreen, steering wheel controls, or by using the voice command “C10, LEAP”, offering a seamless and intuitive user experience.
In addition to improving ride comfort, ‘LEAP MODE’ has been designed to help minimise wear and tear caused by poor road conditions, while also reducing the likelihood of everyday inconveniences such as spilled drinks during journeys.
With thousands of speed bumps and a significant number of potholes across UK roads, the introduction of ‘LEAP MODE’ reflects Leapmotor’s focus on enhancing real-world usability through smart, forward-thinking technology.
‘LEAP MODE’ will be available as an over-the-air update from April.
