More Performance, More Confidence

At the heart of the new M2 is BMW M's 3.0-litre TwinPower Turbo straight-six engine, producing 480hp. Paired with BMW's M Steptronic transmission and the new M xDrive all-wheel-drive system, the result is even sharper acceleration and improved grip.

The enhanced traction allows the BMW M2 with M xDrive to accelerate from 0-62mph in just 3.7 seconds, making it 0.3 seconds quicker than the rear-wheel-drive version. The sprint from 50-75mph takes just 3.7 seconds, while top speed is electronically limited to 155mph, increasing to 177mph with the optional M Driver's Package.

For drivers who want maximum confidence on the road or track, the addition of M xDrive delivers improved stability and control without sacrificing the driving dynamics that make the M2 so popular.

What is BMW M xDrive?

The M xDrive system uses an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch to intelligently distribute power between the front and rear axles depending on road conditions and driving style.

In everyday driving, the system maintains a rear-wheel-drive bias to preserve the traditional M driving experience. When additional grip is required, power is seamlessly transferred to the front wheels to maximise traction and stability.

The system works alongside the Active M Differential and M-specific traction control systems to ensure power is delivered effectively, whether you're driving on wet roads, tackling challenging conditions, or enjoying a track day.

Drivers can also customise the system through the M Setup menu, including selecting a dedicated 2WD mode with DSC deactivated for a more traditional rear-wheel-drive experience.

New BMW M Ignite Technology

Alongside the introduction of M xDrive, BMW is also debuting a new engine innovation known as BMW M Ignite technology.

Derived from motorsport, this patented pre-chamber combustion system improves efficiency under high engine loads while maintaining the strong performance characteristics expected from an M car. BMW states that the technology significantly reduces fuel consumption during demanding driving situations and will be rolled out across all BMW M straight-six engines from mid-2026.

The system also helps BMW meet upcoming EU7 emissions requirements while delivering the immediate throttle response and exhilarating soundtrack M enthusiasts expect.

Built for Road and Track

The BMW M2 with M xDrive comes equipped with a range of performance-focused features as standard.

M Compound brakes provide strong stopping power through six-piston front callipers and single-piston rear callipers, while staggered alloy wheels measure 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear. Customers can also specify track tyres for even greater performance on circuit.

Thanks to its combination of all-wheel drive, advanced chassis tuning, and M-specific technology, the new M2 is designed to deliver exceptional confidence and performance in all conditions, from everyday driving to track use.

New BMW Individual Colours Available

BMW is expanding the M2 colour palette with a range of new finishes, including the introduction of BMW Individual Borusan Turkish Blue, which is available on the M2 for the first time.

Customers can choose from a wide selection of metallic, solid, and BMW Individual paint finishes, allowing them to personalise their M2 to suit their style.

A New Chapter for the BMW M2

The BMW M2 was BMW M GmbH's best-selling high-performance model in 2025, and the addition of M xDrive is set to make the model even more appealing to driving enthusiasts.

By combining the compact dimensions, six-cylinder performance, and engaging character of the M2 with the confidence and capability of all-wheel drive, BMW has created its most versatile M2 yet.

With UK deliveries expected from late summer 2026 and prices starting from £74,255 OTR, the new BMW M2 with M xDrive is set to become one of the most exciting performance car launches of the year.
