Designed for the Demands of Modern Cities

Today’s commercial vehicle challenges extend far beyond carrying heavier or bulkier loads. Van operators working in cities, part of a sector contributing more than €1 trillion to Europe’s GDP, must also navigate clean air zones, rising operating costs and increasing restrictions, all while continuing to meet customer expectations.

Ford Pro identified an opportunity to support cost conscious businesses operating in increasingly electric focused urban environments. By combining the right battery, load capacity and equipment specification, the company developed a straightforward solution designed to meet everyday business needs without requiring additional optional extras.

With the right battery, load area and equipment levels, we could offer a super-simple vehicle that still ticks every box — to the point that you wouldn't need a single optional extra.”

Introducing the All New Transit City

Ford Pro has unveiled the all new Transit City, a new addition to the iconic Transit family created with a clear focus on maximising efficiency and reducing operating costs for urban businesses. Developed to meet the needs of hard working firms navigating increasingly demanding city environments, Transit City delivers a simple and practical solution designed specifically for modern commercial use.

Cargo and Conversion Options

The load area sits at the heart of any commercial vehicle, making practicality a key priority in Transit City’s design. To support a wide range of urban business needs, Ford Pro is offering three dedicated body styles:

2

L1H1 Van

A compact configuration suited to narrow streets and busy loading areas, capable of carrying three Euro pallets with payloads of up to 1,085 kg.

3

L2H2 Van

A larger high capacity variant offering 8.5 cubic metres of load volume, payloads of up to 1,275 kg and more than 3,000 mm of load length.

4

Chassis Cab

Designed for specialist conversions including delivery vehicles, dropsides and applications for municipal operators or utility companies.

Built to Simplify Urban Commercial Transport

Regardless of body style, Transit City will be offered with a single comprehensive specification designed to reduce both cost and complexity for customers. Every van model comes equipped as standard with features including a durable load liner, half height interior trim and integrated lashing points, ensuring businesses have the essentials they need from day one.

Ford Pro developed Transit City with conversion capability firmly in mind. Chief programme engineer Simon Robinson, who previously led the Special Vehicles team for a decade, brought extensive experience to the project, helping shape the company’s first ever one tonne chassis cab for Ford Pro’s network of approved convertors across Europe.

Ready for the Future of Urban Mobility

Ford Pro believes Transit City represents a new approach to urban commercial vehicles by delivering an affordable, practical and purpose built solution for businesses operating in increasingly complex city environments. Positioned alongside E Transit Custom within the Ford Pro lineup, Transit City strengthens the company’s electric commercial vehicle offering ahead of customer deliveries beginning later this year.

Designed for Conversions and Everyday Practicality

Transit City Chassis Cab was engineered to maximise conversion potential. Its front mounted motor creates greater usable space at the rear, while optimised frame rails simplify body building and improve accessibility. Insights gained from E Transit chassis cab programmes also helped refine bolt patterns, standardise electrical connections and establish no drill zones to make conversions faster and more efficient.

Cost Efficient Electrification

Transit City has been designed to deliver the benefits of electrification while keeping ownership costs under control. Ford Pro data showed that most vans in this segment travel fewer than 110 kilometres per day, allowing engineers to focus on balancing payload, range and affordability.

The vehicle features a 56 kWh usable lithium iron phosphate battery, chosen for its durability, cost effectiveness and suitability for frequent fast charging. Transit City targets a driving range of up to 254 kilometres, comfortably exceeding the daily requirements of most urban operators while supporting dependable performance and reduced downtime.

A front wheel drive layout and 110 kW electric motor deliver smooth and quiet performance with instant torque, helping drivers move heavy loads efficiently in busy urban environments. Ford Pro also refined the one pedal driving system based on customer feedback to improve efficiency and reduce fatigue during stop start driving.

Lower Running Costs for Businesses

The efficiency of the battery system also supports lower charging and ownership costs. Ford Pro Charging helps customers access home, depot and public charging solutions, with off peak energy tariffs offering potential savings compared with diesel vehicles.

Charging performance includes:

• 11 kW AC charging from 10 to 100 per cent in approximately 5.2 hours
• 67 kW DC charging from 10 to 80 per cent in around 30 minutes
• Approximately 50 kilometres of range added in 10 minutes using a fast charger

Ford Pro also expects maintenance costs to be around 40 per cent lower than an equivalent diesel vehicle thanks to fewer moving parts and service items. Transit City has a service interval of two years or 40,000 kilometres.

Transit City represents Ford Pro’s latest vision for practical and affordable urban commercial transport, combining electric capability with a purpose built design tailored to the needs of modern businesses. Positioned alongside E Transit Custom within the wider Ford Pro lineup, the new model is expected to strengthen the brand’s offering for operators working in increasingly demanding city environments. Transit City is not currently available, but further updates, specifications and launch details are expected in the future, with more information to be shared as it becomes available.
