Fully electric performance meets everyday usability
Vauxhall Corsa GSE is shaping up to be one of the most exciting small EVs on the way, with Vauxhall confirming it will arrive later this year as the most powerful Corsa ever built.
Sitting at the top of the Corsa range, the new GSE model takes everything drivers already like about the standard car and adds a sharper, more focused driving experience, this time powered entirely by electricity.
What is the Corsa GSE?
GSE stands for Grand Sport Electric, Vauxhall’s performance sub-brand that has now fully transitioned to electric power. After appearing on plug-in hybrid models like the Astra and Grandland, and more recently on the Mokka GSE, the badge is now making its way to the Corsa.
But this isn’t just a styling upgrade.
Vauxhall has confirmed the Corsa GSE will feature a bespoke, GSE-specific chassis with upgraded suspension, braking, and steering calibration. It’s been engineered to deliver a more engaging and responsive drive while still retaining the everyday usability that makes the Corsa so popular.
Nürburgring-tested performance
To ensure it delivers on its hot hatch promise, the Corsa GSE has been put through intensive testing at the legendary Nürburgring—one of the most demanding circuits in the world.
Engineers focused on fine-tuning key performance elements including throttle response, steering feel, ESC calibration, and overall chassis balance. This process is designed to ensure the production model offers confident handling, stability under pressure, and genuine driving enjoyment.
Marcus Lott, Stellantis SVP Lead Engineering, said the goal is simple: to make all-electric performance both exciting and accessible, with a driving experience that lives up to the GSE name.
A modern take on a hot hatch icon
The Corsa already has strong performance heritage, with models like the GSi and VXR helping define it as a true “pocket rocket” over the years.
The new Corsa GSE continues that legacy, but in a modern, fully electric form. It’s designed to bring hot hatch thrills to a new generation, without compromising on efficiency or everyday practicality.
Motorsport DNA
Vauxhall’s motorsport involvement continues to influence its road cars. The brand has competed in the ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup since 2021 and will return to competition in 2026 with the all-electric Mokka GSE Rally.
That experience feeds directly into models like the Corsa GSE, particularly in areas like durability, power delivery, and handling over demanding surfaces.
