We’ve picked four handy apps that we think are worth having on your phone before your next journey.
Zapmap
The essential app for electric vehicle drivers.
The app shows public EV charging points across the UK, with useful information including charger locations, pricing and live availability where available. You can also filter results to find chargers that are suitable for your vehicle.
Heading on a longer journey? Zapmap’s Route Planner can help you work out where you’ll need to stop and charge along the way.
You can also pay for charging at supported locations through the app or with a Zapmap charging card.

Waze
We’ve all set off thinking the roads look clear, only to find ourselves sitting in traffic minutes later. That is where Waze comes in.
Alongside turn-by-turn navigation, the app uses live information and reports from other drivers to flag traffic, crashes, hazards, roadworks and closures.
It can also alert you to speed cameras and changes in speed limits, while suggesting alternative routes when conditions change.
Even if you already know the way, it can be worth checking Waze before you set off.

Reached your destination but not sure what to do next?
Lovetovisit helps you find attractions, events and experiences around the UK, from big family days out to smaller local activities.

Flush Toilet Finder & Map does exactly what the name suggests; it helps you find the nearest public toilet.
The app has a database of toilet locations across the UK. Where information is available, you can check whether there is disabled access, a fee to use the toilet, or a key required.
You can also get directions to the nearest option, which could be very welcome when you're somewhere unfamiliar and nature calls.
Not glamorous, but potentially a lifesaver on a long journey!
