Introducing the Lexus ES
Lexus has taken the wraps off the all-new ES, reworking its classic luxury saloon shape for the electrified era. It will be introduced in Europe later in 2026, with the first fully electric ES scheduled for the UK later in 2026.
If you like a premium saloon that looks sleek, feels thoughtfully made, and is designed around modern tech, this one is worth keeping on your radar.
Lexus says the new ES is built around a design theme called “Clean Tech x Elegance”, aiming to blend technology-led function with the brand’s hand-crafted, premium feel.
A key point is that this is not a light refresh. Lexus’ design team started from a “super-ideal” concept and refined it into a production-ready car, rather than working up from the current model.
The all-new ES sits on Lexus’ Global Architecture K-platform, redesigned to suit electrified powertrains. Lexus also says the proportions were carefully set to deliver an elegant saloon look while offering SUV-like interior space.
Exterior design highlights
A fresh take on the Lexus “spindle” look: Up front, the ES uses the latest Lexus spindle body shape, stretching across the bonnet and down to the bumper edges, helping it stay instantly recognisable.
New twin L-shaped lighting signature: There’s also a new front light layout creating a twin L-shape, described as a new signature for Lexus electrified models.
Sleek side profile with a “trunkless” feel: From the side, Lexus focused on keeping that elegant saloon silhouette, with a flowing shape and a cabin that tapers towards the rear for a smoother, more streamlined look.
A wide, modern rear end: At the back, the ES features L-signature lights and a single seamless light bar that integrates the LEXUS logo and includes the tail and stop lights. Lexus also notes the rear lighting design supports airflow management.
Interior: cleaner, calmer, more considered
Inside, Lexus applies “Clean Tech and Elegance” principles, aiming for a modern cabin that feels open and uncluttered.
Hidden Switches (with proper tactile feedback): Lexus has created “Hidden Switches” that sit discreetly within the dashboard trim. When the car is off, they’re not visible. When you start the car, they light up. Importantly, they still give tactile feedback when used.
Lighting and trim details: There’s also a Lexus-first illuminated surface effect, including bamboo-effect door panel trims paired with light transmission technology, designed to work in sync with the cabin ambient lighting.
Driver layout: Tazuna cockpit: The driver area follows Lexus’ Tazuna approach, arranging controls and information so you can use them with minimal movement. A 12.3-inch asymmetric digital display helps keep the top of the dash feeling lower and more open.
