An online Fundamentals Minibus Management Course, and an Advanced face-to-face Course to help drivers and all those involved with minibuses understand their liabilities and responsibilities.
Two Levels of Learning
Choose between an online fundamentals course or the new advanced in-person option with specialist legal and health and safety content.
- Minibus Management Fundamentals (Online Course)
Our original, fully online course remains available as a core introduction to minibus compliance, aimed at those new to driving or running minibuses or seeking a flexible self-paced option. This course remains free to all Rivervale customers purchasing, leasing or hiring a minibus.
2. Advanced Minibus Management (In-Person Course)
Reintroduced in September 2025, our new face-to-face course builds on the fundamentals and includes:
- Expert insight from a solicitor specialising in transport law
- Advice from health & safety consultants on risk management and the cross-over minibus safety and compliance has with H&S.
- Interactive Q&A sessions, and the chance to discuss best practise and case studies with peers.

Who is the Minibus Management Course for?
Bursars & Administrators
Bursars and administrators will gain insights into necessary maintenance planning, budgeting, and compliance with transportation regulations. They will learn about the importance of evidencing checks, maintaining records, and the duration for keeping this information. Their role in ensuring the fiscal and legal responsibility of the school's transportation system is crucial.
Facility Managers
Facilities Managers will understand the bigger picture of all the elements required to run a legal minibus operation, and will learn how other staff involved with the minibus can help with management and maintenance - as well as taking steps to reduce common accidents.
Drivers
Drivers can be reassured they're driving with the right licences. They will understand that they must take some responsibility for the maintenance of the vehicle, and for completing regular checks to make their trips more enjoyable and to protect themselves from fines and points if there are issues with the minibus.
Heads & Governors
Heads and Governors will be able to make better-informed decisions on buying/leasing vehicles, and who can drive them. They will also be empowered to make decisions on further driving training where it's needed.
Saving money with Rivervale's Minibus Management Courses
Understanding licences, vehicle weights, safety inspections, daily checks and the on-the-road challenges of driving a minibus will dramatically increase your safety levels and enable you to implement a comprehensive safety system.

Pricing
The Advanced in-person Minibus Management Course with input from a specialist solicitor and H&S Consultant is £475 plus VAT per person. Refreshments are included.
The Fundamentals Online Minibus Management Course is available on a subscription basis for 12 months with two options for access (all prices exclude VAT).
£195 plus VAT for four logins
£395 plus VAT for unlimited users, with the same email domain, for example: @exampleschool.sch.org
Section 19 Permits
Learn and understand the requirements of a Section 19 Permit, including who you can and can't carry and the parameters of lending out your minibuses.
Legal Requirements
Be confident that you are doing everything legally required for your minibuses. The Advanced Course includes specialist legal insight.
For Your Convenience
Complete the online course in your own time or pick a date to complete the Advanced Course in person and complete in a day with your peers.
Continuous Learning
The online course is available to you for one year so you can refresh your knowledge, and attendees of the Advanced Course will receive further updates and insights.

Whether online or in-person, the course includes videos and quizzes to increase engagement. Join us in person for peer support and best-practice discussions.
