Here at Rivervale, we’re proud to take our corporate social responsibilities very seriously….
This is demonstrated by various practices that we follow as a company; from working in partnership with a number of local charities, to having an engaged involvement with our local community, maintaining an environmental conscience in our workspace and by creating opportunities for the next generation.
Rivervale have a long standing connection to local charity having engaged in various partnerships with a number of local charities over the years. Our employees take great pride in involving themselves in charity fundraisers, having helped raise funds with bake sales, charity singles, bungee jumps, sky dives, fancy dress days…..you name it, we’ve done it! Currently our chosen charity is the Rockinghorse Childrens Charity, a Brighton based charity that is the fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra childrens hospital and has been supporting children for over 50 years. We also have a long standing association with Albion in the Community and the Charlton Athletic Community Trust, providing minibuses to help both charities carry out their highly awarded community work throughout Sussex and South East London.
The world is being forced to stand up and pay attention to the changes in our climate, and we here at Rivervale are very conscious of our carbon footprint, particularly so with the nature of the industry we work in. Because of this, we’re very considerate of our environmental actions in the workplace, ensuring that we’re taking as many steps as possible to operate in an environmentally friendly way. Bit by bit we are intent on playing our role to reduce our carbon footprint through small actions like having recycling bins on every office floor, limiting print in the office, the removal of plastic cups from water filters, the encouragement of re-usable coffee cups and offering staff the cycle to work scheme. Every little step ensures we are taking positive action to help the environment we live and work in.
Although Rivervale operate nationwide, we always consider ourselves a local business first and foremost, so it’s important for us to keep in touch with the local community. Along with our sponsorship of Brighton & Hove Albion FC and Sussex County Cricket Club, we also support local amateur league football clubs with sponsorship of their teams. Our support provides new kit and equipment and helps to keep their local league football ambitions alive. FC Sporting U-13's play their matches at Victoria park, just across the road from our Rivervale House offices, sometimes some of our weekend staff can even be found watching their matches over the road on a Saturday morning!
We believe the Rivervale working environment fosters continued growth and recognises the contributions of our employees. We encourage our team members to strive to continually improve themselves, always trying to support promotion from within. When we can’t do this, we look to local apprentice schemes, focusing on giving real life work opportunities to the next generation. Currently we have 6 employees who came through apprentice employment, all starting out from an early age and now working in full time roles with the company, this is something we’re incredibly proud of.
